The Sound of Noise is an audio work that fills the front gallery of The Broadcast with just that: the sound of noise. The source material for the piece is the inauguration speech delivered by President Donald Trump on January 20, 2017, from the West Front of the United States Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. The artist played the speech aloud in a room and recorded the speech anew, and subsequently played back and re-recorded the speech in this same way several times over. The resulting work obscures the speech, as the process of its making devolves the language into pure noise, devoid of any content or direct meaning.
